Welcome To Walk Your Path Well

The Walk Your Path Well program offers natural adventures for children designed to promote physical fitness and appreciation of the outdoors and the world. The program offers activities for children from age 7 to 16 in the Durham/Chapel Hill/Hillsborough area.

Day, week-long, and overnight expeditions provide the chance for children to learn nature skills, connect with friends and counselors, and develop physical fitness in a healthy, natural setting.

Through participation, each adventurer builds skills in hiking, tree/plant identification, fire-making, shelter-building, cooperative games, and river ecology. Participants get to know wilderness areas in North Carolina, such as the Eno River State Park and the Appalachian Mountains.

What We Offer

Small Group Sizes
With enrollment of 20 campers per adventure and 14 campers for overnight expeditions, a child will not get left out or lost in the crowd. The staff ensures safety through active supervision of a small group of campers. Each camper find their place in the group through nurturing, personal attention. Activities are hands-on, and each camper participates throughout the day. The group structure at Walk Your Path Well enhances the feeling of connection between campers and counselors, who move from activity to activity as a little tribe.
Creative Environments
Small groups offer the flexibility to develop creatively. If the group is engaged in shelter building, a particular game, or river exploration, the activity can naturally be extended as long as the level of interest is high. This provides easy, organic transitions between activities. Some of our favorite games: the Dragon Game, War and Peace, and Kingdoms X were enhanced or completely created by adventurers at Walk Your Path Well. We look forward to seeing what future adventurers will create!
Dynamic Programs
Our program runs based on camper interest. On any given day campers can be found playing in the Eno, learning how to build fires, playing imaginative games like the Dragon Game, or simply listening to the sound of birds and the wind. Even though our programs have schedules and itineraries, it is very much up to the camper to decide their participation and the way the activity is run!
Environmental and Personal Responsibility
Walk Your Path Well emphasizes environmental principles such as “leaving no trace” in wilderness areas. The group participates in clean up following activities at the Eno River State Park, and adventurers often leave an area cleaner than it was when they came. Campers are taught how to live health and active lives, and healthy fire-roasted snacks are provided for adventurers every day at camp.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.
